For over a decade now, the paintings of Atlanta based artist, Jeff Williams, have been inspired by the formal and flamboyant life stories of the Art Deco Era.
His works have in some ways mirrored his own life. Growing up with five older sisters, he has an incredible eye for style and design. This is most evident in the intricate detail of the elaborate ensembles he creates for the ladies in his paintings. Often using real three-dimensional objects such as vintage jewelry, glass beads and fringe. His “ladies” are beyond decadent!
Not unlike his multi-faceted personality, his images range from brightly colored galas to sultry sophisticated scenes captured in more subdued palettes. After time spent in Europe, being influenced by the works of the Old Masters, he began using stain washes. This technique has added more depth and intensity to his work. Whether brightly colored exuberance or subdued elegance, Jeff’s paintings always reflect “La Bonne Vie”, the good life!
